How we meet the requirements of the new curriculum:
Children are given the opportunity to compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best.
Opportunity is given to engage in competitive (both against self and against others) and co-operative physical activities, in a range of increasingly challenging situations.
Sessions allow time for children to develop an understanding of how to improve in different physical activities and sports and learn how to evaluate and recognise their own success.
Lessons include fun challenging games with easy to understand technical information and teaching tips. Brand new exciting games with transferable skills, which covers the new curriculum objective 'participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending.' All lessons have progressions with a topic running from start to finish. Our PE Scheme of Work brings back the opportunity for children to participate in competitive sport (as stated in the new PE curriculum) with small group games that are a variation of the main sport. Tournaments are also included to encourage intra- sports competitions.
We also have an online assessment tool that tracks pupil progress using our progression charts.
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
Key PE Sports provides adventurous outdoor activities with cross-curricular links in Maths, Geography, Physical Education, Art and Literacy. Lessons are designed to challenge children's decision making and their ability to follow a map. Lessons are clear, concise and easy to follow for both teachers and children. Lessons encourage children to work cooperatively and collaboratively to plan the task carefully, solve group challenges and evaluate ideas and strategies. Children are also challenged to evaluate each others work and provide feedback.
Key PE Sports also provides support through an interactive resource pack. This pack assists teachers with their lessons and provides the necessary resources to complete the lessons. Each lesson takes into consideration safety issues when Orienteering.
'Take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team.’ New Curriculum 2014
Key PE Sports aims to provide teachers with support and guidance to deliver engaging, challenging, progressive lessons. Our PE Scheme of Work has been carefully created and tested with the help and advice of specialist sports coaches and teachers. Each lesson provides teachers with a simple pitch diagram and description of the game with the inclusion of progressions, challenges and tips for the teacher. Lessons have been designed to ensure maximum time available is spent playing sport.
